Blanche’s Second-Half Strike Lifts CBU in Tough, Physical Battle

Box Score

MEMPHIS, TN. – Christian Brothers men's soccer grinded out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UAH on Saturday afternoon at Signaigo Field, extending their unbeaten streak in conference play to five matches.

In a match that tested both teams physically, the Buccaneers outshot the Chargers 23-7, controlling possession for much of the afternoon despite a flurry of fouls and heavy defensive challenges on both ends.

The breakthrough came in the 68th minute when Alexander Blanche buried a shot off a setup from Olivier van der Tuin, notching his second goal of the season and the game-winner.

The Bucs' defense, anchored by Sebastian Torka in goal, held firm as UAH pressed late. Torka recorded three key saves to preserve his third shutout of the year, while defenders AJ Agbede and Matthias Ran De Berg helped stifle multiple UAH counterattacks.

It was a physically intense match, featuring 25 total fouls and five yellow cards. Both sides battled for every inch of the pitch, with the referees kept busy from start to finish.

CBU (7-2-1, 4-0-1 GSC) continues its strong form and will look to carry the momentum into its next conference matchup.
