CBU Volleyball Advances to Second Round, Behind Ella’s Honor and Waggonor’s Big Night

Christian Brothers University entered the playoff matchup with fire, energy, and something to prove, and they delivered. Before the first serve even went up, the crowd erupted as standout hitter Ella was officially announced as an All-Conference selection, a well-earned honor that set the tone for the night. Her recognition fueled not only her own play, but the entire team's confidence as they stepped onto the court.

From the opening rally, CBU played like a group with purpose. Ella's leadership and presence were undeniable, but it was Addison Waggonor's electric performance that pushed momentum fully in the Lady Bucs' favor. Waggonor dominated both offensively and defensively, piling up crucial kills and timely plays that kept the team firing on all cylinders.

But this victory wasn't about one or two players, it was the product of a true team effort. Every athlete contributed, from gritty defensive digs to smart serves and controlled passing. The bench energy stayed high, the chemistry was sharp, and CBU showed the composure of a group determined to rewrite the program's recent history.

And that's exactly what they did.

With the win, Head Coach LaShaunda Spurgeon and assistant coach Giovana Costarelli officially guided CBU into the Second Round of the Playoffs—something the program hasn't accomplished in a long time. Their leadership, discipline, and belief in the team were on full display, and this milestone is a testament to the culture they've built in their first year.

Tonight wasn't just a win.
It was a statement.

A statement that CBU Volleyball is rising, and they aren't done yet.
