Memphis, TN- The Christian Brothers University men's cross country team has been recognized for its success in the classroom and on the course, earning All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
To qualify for the distinction, teams must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, and record a team score at their respective regional championship meet. Christian Brothers met both requirements, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence in academics and athletics.
CBU also saw two runners earn individual All-Academic honors for their achievements. National qualifier Basile Chevrel, a graduate student pursuing his MBA, was recognized after meeting the academic standards and competing at a high level throughout the season. Senior Joseph Arriaga also earned the honor while majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
For individual recognition, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other criteria. Both Chevrel and Arriaga achieved those marks, representing CBU with strong performances in competition and in the classroom.
The recognition reflects the balance the Bucs have maintained between academic success and competitive performance, as the team continues to build a culture focused on achievement both on the course and in the classroom.
