JACKSON, Tenn.—Host Union scored 11 unanswered runs to pull away for a 15-5 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Thursday afternoon at Fesmire Field.
The Bucs (0-3) had led 5-4 after two and a half innings before the Bulldogs pulled away.
The Bucs scored first in the first inning.
Cody Dunn (Bartlett, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) drew a leadoff walk and scored when
Will Britt (Oxford, Miss./Oxford HS) reached on a force play. The Bucs tacked on three unearned runs in the second, capitalizing on a pair of infield errors, a hit batter, and a walk, but Union (3-0) matched the Bucs' total for the second straight inning.
Britt drew a leadoff walk and courtesy runner
Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) came home on a
Matt Stephany (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) single, but that was the end of the Bucs' scoring.
The Bulldogs scored two in the third and two more in the fourth to take an 8-5 lead, and they blew it open with a four-run fifth. They tacked on three in the eighth, and the game was ended in the eighth inning.
The Bucs start their first weekend series Saturday with a doubleheader against St. Joseph's (Ind.). First pitch is scheduled for noon.
