Bucs Throttle Magicians 20-5

Will Britt went 3-for-6 with three RBI as the Bucs rolled to a 20-5 win over LeMoyne-Owen Wednesday afternoon.
MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored 16 runs in the first two innings as they rolled to a 20-5 win over LeMoyne-Owen Wednesday afternoon at Buc Field.

The Bucs (2-7) put their first five batters on in the first inning on their way to scoring six runs on three hits, an error, and five walks.  In the second inning, they scored 10 runs as they put their first seven runners on base safely, eventually sending 16 to the plate in the inning.  In the first two innings, the Bucs sent 28 men to the plate.

The Bucs tacked on two more in the third inning and one each in the fourth and fifth.  The Magicians scored twice in the sixth and three times in the seventh to set the final margin.

Freshman pitcher Roberto Martinez (Catano, Puerto Rico/) earned the win as he tossed three scoreless innings, only allowing two baserunners before he was lifted.  Jeff Dove (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) also threw two scoreless innings, striking out two as he allowed a hit and two walks.

Will Britt (Oxford, Miss./Oxford HS) paced the Bucs' offense with three hits and three RBI.  Alan Wright (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and Joseph Kaminski (Sherwood, Ark./Little Rock Catholic HS) each had two hits, as the Bucs collected 12 as a team.  Kaminski scored four runs, while Wright scored three times.

The Bucs will return to the field this weekend with a three-game series against Robert Morris-Springfield (Ill.).  Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start.
