MEMPHIS—Visiting Illinois Wesleyan scored 12 runs in a three-inning stretch as they pulled away for a 17-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Thursday afternoon at Buc Field.
The Titans (5-4) scored three runs in the second, six in the third, and three more in the fourth to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
The Bucs (7-13) scored twice in the sixth inning when
Joseph Kaminski (Sherwood, Ark./Little Rock Catholic HS) hit a two-run double off the fence in center. The Bucs' only other hit was a
Josh Shelton (Rosemark, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) double in the eighth inning, after the Titans had scored five more in the top of the seventh.
After raining out their first scheduled weekend, the Bucs open Gulf South Conference West Division play Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at first-place Delta State. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m., with a single game set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
