Bucs Blaze Nets in 72-54 Win

Scott Dennis scored 17 points with nine rebounds, five steals, and five assists in the Bucs' 72-54 win over Lambuth Tuesday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs shot a season-high 56 percent from the floor as they cruised to a 72-54 win over Lambuth Tuesday night at Canale Arena.

After trailing 15-8 in the first eight minutes, the Bucs (5-1) turned to freshman guard Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS), who knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to spark a 24-7 run to end the first half.

The Eagles (1-3) scored the first two baskets of the second half to come within a 35-28 margin, but the Bucs extended the lead to double digits for good shortly afterwards.  Alex Rogers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills HS) buried a three-pointer, and after a Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) three-point play, Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) knocked down a triple of his own.  The 9-0 run gave the Bucs a 44-28 lead with 17:34 remaining, and Lambuth never came closer than 10 points again.

Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) turned in an exceptional performance with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals with no turnovers in 30 minutes.  Warner scored 17 points with seven rebounds and three blocks.  McArthy scored 11, while Green and Rogers added 10 each.

Shaun Merriweather led Lambuth with 18 points.  Antwan Long scored 13, and Devance Harris scored 12.

The Bucs shot 56 percent (28-of-50) overall, including 36.4 percent (8-of-22) from beyond the arc.  They held Lambuth to 39.6 percent (19-of-48) overall, but Lambuth held a 28-26 rebound edge.  The Bucs forced 15 turnovers while committing nine.

The Bucs head to Alabama for their next three games.  Monday night, they visit No. 8 Alabama-Huntsville, and they visit North Alabama Saturday, Dec. 4.  They travel to No. 13 Montevallo Dec. 7 before returning to Canale Arena to face Williams Baptist Thursday, Dec. 9., at 7 p.m.
