Norse Swamp Bucs 15-1

Yogi Vanaman was hit by a pitch and scored in the first inning and hit a fifth-inning double, but the Bucs lost 15-1 to Northern Kentucky Sunday afternoon.
MEMPHIS—Visiting Northern Kentucky scored 15 unanswered runs as they rolled to a 15-1 victory to complete a three-game sweep of the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon at Buc Field.

The Bucs (4-9) scored first in the opening frame as Yogi Vanaman (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) was hit by a pitch.  He moved to third on an Alan Wright (Memphis, Tenn., Christian Brothers HS) double, and Joseph Kaminski (Sherwood, Ark./Little Rock Catholic HS) brought him home with a sacrifice fly.

The Norse (4-2) batted around in the top of the second, scoring five two-out runs to take the lead for good.  They tacked on a run in the third, fourth, and sixth innings along with seven in the fifth to blow it wide open.

Tyler Dunn (Bartlett, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) went 2-for-3 for the Bucs, while Vanaman, Wright, and Kaminski each collected one hit.  Aaron Short (Cleveland, Tenn./Cleveland HS) threw a perfect seventh inning on nine pitches.

The Bucs have a light week as they don't play again until Friday, when they visit Bethel at 1 p.m.  They host Bethel Saturday at 2 p.m. before finishing their weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lambuth.
