Late-Inning Fireworks Power CBU to Series Wins Over Trevecca

Memphis, TN- Christian Brothers put together a determined showing at home, rallying late in two games to take the series over Trevecca Nazarene.


Game 1: Christian Brothers 8, Trevecca Nazarene 6

Christian Brothers stormed back with a huge seventh inning to erase a four-run deficit and take the opener 8-6.

Trevecca jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first on a Cade Moore home run and adding two more runs across the next few innings to build a 5-0 lead. CBU got on the board in the fourth when Will Gossett launched a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 5-2.

After Trevecca added another run in the seventh to make it 6-2, the Buccaneers responded with a game-changing rally in the bottom half. CBU plated six runs on just one hit, taking advantage of walks and hit batters. Nick Petruzzello delivered the biggest blow with a two-run single to give CBU its first lead at 8-6.

William Norris earned the win in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings, while Kade Johnson kept the game within reach early with six strikeouts. Petruzzello led the offense with two RBIs, while Gossett added a home run and two RBIs.


Game 2: Christian Brothers 10, Trevecca Nazarene 7

The Buccaneers followed with another late surge, exploding for eight runs in the eighth inning to secure a 10-7 victory.

Trevecca controlled much of the game early, building a 7-2 lead behind timely hitting, including a two-RBI triple from Cade Moore and multiple sacrifice flies.

CBU chipped away with runs in the third and fifth innings before breaking through in the eighth. The Buccaneers capitalized on defensive miscues and clutch hitting, scoring eight runs on six hits. Patrick Mangels highlighted the inning with a two-run single, while Will Gossett drove in four runs in the game.

Kayne Braxton earned the win in relief, allowing two runs over four innings. Offensively, CBU totaled 11 hits, with strong contributions from Mangels, Isaac Lemanski, and Shahkai Matthews.


Game 3: Trevecca Nazarene 13, Christian Brothers 6

Trevecca Nazarene salvaged the final game of the series with a 13-6 win, using a dominant third inning to pull away.

The Trojans exploded for nine runs in the third, highlighted by a grand slam from Tyler Jenkins that broke the game open. They continued to add on with runs in the fourth and sixth innings to extend the lead.

Christian Brothers showed fight, scoring in the third and adding three runs in the fourth, including a two-RBI single from Shahkai Matthews. Brayden Basey added a solo home run in the sixth, and Will Gossett contributed with multiple RBIs.

Despite matching Trevecca with 13 hits, CBU could not overcome the early deficit. Cameron Olivo took the loss after Trevecca's big third inning.


Christian Brothers displayed fight throughout the series, using timely hitting and late-game execution to secure two comeback victories before dropping the finale.
