Joseph Kaminski went 2-for-3 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at No. 1 Southern Arkansas, but the Bucs lost 15-1 and 7-0.
MAGNOLIA, Ark.—No. 1 Southern Arkansas held the Christian Brothers University Bucs to just 11 baserunners as they rolled to a doubleheader sweep over CBU, winning 15-1 and 7-0 Saturday as they remained unbeaten in Gulf South Conference West Division play.

In the opener, the Muleriders (34-3, 13-0 GSC West) cruised to a 15-1 win as star pitcher Hayden Simpson (10-0) struck out 10 in six innings of work, allowing just one unearned run on two hits and a hit batter.

The Bucs (5-33, 1-12) struck first in the top of the second as Yogi Vanaman (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) doubled to left and scored on an error on a Simpson pickoff throw.

The Muleriders batted around in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs on four hits, two errors, and two walks, including a two-run Gavan McCauley homer.

SAU tacked on a run in the third, two in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three in the sixth to set the final margin.

Joseph Kaminski (Sherwood, Ark./Little Rock Catholic HS) accounted for two of the Bucs' three hits, while Vanaman doubled.

In the nightcap, the Muleriders took control quickly as Logan Williams hit a three-run homer in the first inning.  They added three more in the second inning on two hits, two walks, and a sacrifice fly, and an RBI infield single in the third inning by Andrew Whittington set the final margin at 7-0.

Matt Speake (6-0) tossed a five-hit shutout in the nightcap, striking out 10 against one walk.

Aaron Short (Cleveland, Tenn./Cleveland HS) went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, Vanaman, Chance Ruggeroli (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge HS), and Caleb Burrow (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) added a single each.

The Bucs meet the No. 1 Muleriders again Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. for the final game of the series.  The Bucs come home Tuesday at 1 p.m. against LeMoyne-Owen.
