Aaron Short hit a double in the Bucs' 8-0 loss to Union Wednesday afternoon.
MEMPHIS—Union pitchers Brad Davis and David Leisey combined for a five-hit shutout as the Bulldogs won 8-0 over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday afternoon at Buc Field.

Union (29-8) scored their first runs in the third inning on a Danny Grimm single and back-to-back doubles from Corey Rudolph and Beau Baker.  Baker scored on an error to make the margin 3-0.

The Bulldogs used two doubles and a single to score twice in the seventh.  They tacked on one in the eighth and two in the ninth to set the final margin.

Davis kept the Bucs (5-35) off balance all game, throwing eight and two-third scoreless innings as he allowed five hits, three walks, and two hit batters while striking out 12.  Leisey retired the game's final batter on a flyout to finish the shutout.

Aaron Short (Cleveland, Tenn./Cleveland HS) doubled for the Bucs, while Matt Van Slyke (Oxford, Miss./Oxford HS), Yogi Vanaman (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS), Anthony Apro (Lexington, Ky./West Jessamine HS), and Chance Ruggeroli (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge HS) each singled.
