No. 16 Bucs Shoot Down Eagles 70-57

Zack Warner scored 21 points with eight rebounds to lead the Bucs to a 70-57 win at Lambuth Thursday night.
Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.—The No. 16 Christian Brothers University Bucs ran their winning streak to seven games with a 70-57 win at Lambuth Thursday night in their final non-conference game of the season.

Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) carried the Bucs (12-2) throughout the game.  Early on, he knocked down a pair of jumpers sandwiching a Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) three-pointer to put the Bucs ahead for good midway through the first half, taking a 19-12 lead with 12:03 remaining in the half.

After Lambuth (5-7) cut the margin back to 23-20, Warner buried three straight jumpers, followed by another Dennis three to push the lead to 32-20 with 4:05 remaining in the half.

In the second half, the Eagles whittled the lead back to 51-45 with 8:09 remaining, but the Bucs again answered in a big way, with Warner throwing down a two-handed slam dunk to cap a 12-2 run that put the Bucs back up 63-47 with 3:18 remaining.  Lambuth never came closer than 11 again.

Warner scored a game-high 21 points with eight rebounds and five assists.  Dennis added 15 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and no turnovers in 40 minutes, while Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 15 with four assists and three steals , tying his career high in both points and steals.

Antwan Long scored 16 to lead the Eagles.  Nakeem Floyd scored 11, and Shaun Merriweather added 10.

The Bucs committed a season-low six turnovers, their lowest turnover total since committing just four in a 104-60 win over Williams Baptist Dec. 5, 2009.  They shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) overall and 40 percent (8-of-20) from three-point range.  They out-rebounded Lambuth 33-29, including a 9-5 edge on the boards.

The Bucs hit the road Saturday for their GSC West opener Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they visit Arkansas-Monticello.  They return home Thursday night, Jan. 13, against Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m.
