Box Score HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.—The Christian Brothers University Bucs knocked down 13 three-pointers Friday night as they cruised to a 70-53 win over Shaw in the first game of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic at Northern Kentucky University.

The Bucs (3-0), who never trailed, seized control with a 13-3 run during the opening half.  An early 7-1 lead had been cut to 7-5 when Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) scored on a putback layup.  After a turnover, Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) knocked down the Bucs' second three-pointer of the night.  Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) followed with a triple of his own, and after a Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) layup, Dennis capped the run with another three-pointer to give the Bucs a 20-8 lead with 10:21 remaining in the half.

The Bucs' lead grew to as many as 16 points late in the first half, but the Bears (1-1) whittled the lead back to 46-40 on a pair of Malik Allen free throws with 12:01 to play.  The Bucs went back to the perimeter to put the game away, with two triples each by Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) and Pat Graham (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) sparking a 15-2 run that left the Bucs ahead 61-42 with 6:33 remaining when Dennis made a free throw.  The Bucs eventually pushed their lead to 68-46 before the Bears outscored CBU 7-2 in the last minute to cut the final margin to 70-53.

Dennis turned in his third double-double in as many games Friday night with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 38 minutes.  Warner scored 17 with six rebounds, while McArthy had 12 points, three assists, and three steals.  Green added 11 with three assists.

Allen paced the Bears with 28, including 9-of-9 at the free throw line.  Latrail McCoy scored 11.

The Bucs continued their strong ballhandling, committing just nine turnovers, three of which came in the game's final 40 seconds, while forcing 13.  The Bears held a 31-28 edge on the boards, but the Bucs shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) overall to the Bears' 38.8 percent (19-of-49).  The Bucs were 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) from three-point range while holding the Bears to 15.4 percent (2-of-13).

The Bucs return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when they face Cincinnati-Clermont in their final game in the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic.  The Bucs' next home game is set for Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. against Arkansas Tech.
