Bisons Edge Bucs Late to Complete Sweep

Jimmy Franklin went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the Bucs' 4-2 loss at Harding Sunday afternoon.
SEARCY, Ark.—Host Harding scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and claim a 4-2 win to complete a three-game GSC series sweep of the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon.

The Bisons (23-4, 3-0 GSC West) struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Trent Kinnear was hit by a pitch and scored on a Paul Anzalone single.  They doubled their lead in the sixth inning with a walk and a pair of hits.

The Bucs (14-8, 0-3) tied it in the top of the seventh.  Two walks and a single loaded the bases, and a Brent Goode (Jackson, Tenn./North Side HS) single and a Jimmy Franklin (Knoxville, Tenn./Powell HS) hit by pitch pushed across a run each to tie the game, but the Bucs left the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the inning, Charles Bradley legged out a bunt single to start the inning, coming around to score on an error after a Chase Presley single.  Presley scored on a Billy Ninemire single to complete the scoring for the game, and while the Bucs put three runners on in the final two frames, they were unable to push another run across as they stranded nine runners, six in scoring position.

Jake Garbuzinski (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) took the loss despite a strong outing, as he allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits in six and a third innings.  Jon-Michael Davis (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) pitched the final inning and two-thirds, retiring all five batters he faced.

The Bucs face Bethel at AutoZone Park Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m.  They come home Saturday at noon to host Henderson State in the doubleheader of their first home GSC West series of the season.
