RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—Host Arkansas Tech scored runs in five of seven innings as they pulled away for a 13-3 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs to remain in first place in the Gulf South Conference West Division standings.
The Wonder Boys (23-13, 10-2 GSC West) scored first in the bottom of the second when Nate Wilder homered to right. In the third, they scored twice on three walks, a hit batter, and two singles. A three-run fourth inning extended the lead to six runs.
The Bucs (14-18-1, 0-11-1) got on the board in the top of the fifth as
Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) hit a two-run homer to left-center. A
Yogi Vanaman (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) homer in the sixth cut the lead to 6-3, but the Wonder Boys scored four in the bottom of the sixth on an error, a walk, a hit batter, and two singles to extend their lead to 10-3. They ended it an inning later with three runs in the seventh on three walks, a passed ball, and a single.
Wilson and Wright collected two hits each for the Bucs in the game.
The Bucs come home Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. to host Freed-Hardeman.
