Bulldogs Rally Past Bucs 7-6

Alan Wright went 2-for-5 with two RBI, but the Bucs lost 7-6 to Union Tuesday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs built a 5-2 lead early in the game Tuesday, but visiting Union rallied to take a 7-6 win at Buc Field.

The Bucs (4-7) struck first in the bottom of the first inning.  Jimmy Franklin (Knoxville, Tenn./Powell HS) doubled to left-center with one out, and Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) followed with a walk.  Singles from Hunter Parham (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) and Braden Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) pushed Franklin and Wilson across.  The Bulldogs (9-2) answered with two of their own in the top of the second on a walk and three singles.

Brent Goode (Jackson, Tenn./North Side HS) reached on an error and scored on a Franklin infield single in the bottom of the second to put the Bucs back in front, and they added two more in the third, when three straight walks loaded the bases for a two-run Alan Wright (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) single that gave the Bucs their biggest lead at 5-2.

A one-out rally in the top of the fifth put the Bulldogs in front for the first time as a walk and a single were followed by back-to-back doubles to tie the game.  A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run.  The Bucs would answer in the seventh as Ryan Knott (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) singled and came around on a Cody Warren (Orlando, Fla./Orangewood Christian HS) single.  Back-to-back eighth-inning doubles by Kian Jost and R.J. Rayborn brought home the winning run for the Bulldogs.

Warren led the Bucs' offense with three hits, and Franklin, Parham, Keathley, Wright, and Jake Williams (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) had two hits each.  Wright drove in two runs.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they host a doubleheader against LeMoyne-Owen.
