Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.—The Christian Brothers University Bucs used strong pitching and a pair of seventh-inning runs to claim a 3-2 win at Union Tuesday night in a non-conference game.
The Bulldogs (26-16-1) scored the game's first two runs. In the third, they used a walk, a wild pitch, and a single to score the game's first run, and an inning later they plated another run on a double and a pair of groundouts.
The Bucs (11-27) scored their first run in the fifth inning.
Seth Cline (Cottontown, Tenn./Portland HS) drew a one-out walk and moved to second on a
Hunter Frey (Paris, Tenn./Henry County HS) single. A throwing error on a
Jimmy Franklin (Knoxville, Tenn./Powell HS) bunt brought Cline home to cut the lead in half. The Bucs took the lead in the seventh, when
Alan Wright (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) led off with a double to left. Cline singled to left-center, and Union failed to record an out on a Frey sacrifice bunt. Franklin followed with an RBI single to center, and Cline scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Miles Anderson (Milan, Tenn./Milan HS) earned his first college win for the Bucs, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings.
Matt Ariemma (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Benedict HS),
Cary Crain (Millington, Tenn./Millington HS), and
Jon-Michael Davis (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) each tossed a scoreless inning of relief, with Davis earning his fourth save of the season.
Hunter Parham (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) went 2-for-4, and Cline scored two runs.
The Bucs play their next four games at home, beginning with a 3 p.m. game Thursday afternoon against Rhodes. The Bucs also host a GSC series with Delta State this weekend.
