Box Score MEMPHIS—No. 17 Delta State claimed an 18-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon, spoiling the Bucs' Senior Day.

The Statesmen (30-11, 14-7 GSC) opened the scoring with two doubles and a single in the second inning, and they doubled their advantage in the third inning with two runs on a double, a walk, a single, and an error.

In the bottom of the third, the Bucs (11-31, 3-18) plated two runs of their own to pull within two runs.  Hunter Frey (Paris, Tenn./Henry County HS) drew a walk, and Cody Warren (Orlando, Fla./Orangewood Christian HS) slapped a single through the right side, moving Frey to third.  Jimmy Franklin (Knoxville, Tenn./Powell HS) hit an RBI single to short, and Josh Hopkins (Olive Branch, Miss./Southern Baptist Educational Center) singled up the middle to bring Warren home.

The Statesmen stretched it back out in the fourth inning, when Jordan Chovanec blasted a three-run homer to right, and they used two doubles, a walk, an error, and a single to add three more runs to their lead in the fifth.  They put it away in the top of the eighth with eight runs on six hits, three errors, and three walks.

Hopkins went 2-for-3 in the game for the Bucs.

The Bucs play their final four regular-season games on the road, beginning with a 3 p.m. game at Bethel tomorrow afternoon.
