Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala.—Host West Alabama completed a three-game sweep of the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 win.
The Tigers (28-20, 15-9 GSC) plated single runs in the second and third innings to take an early lead. The Bucs (11-35, 3-21) answered with one run in the fifth.
Alan Wright (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, he stole third and scored on a
Cody Warren (Orlando, Fla./Orangewood Christian HS) groundout.
The Tigers tacked on a run each in the sixth and seventh innings, and they set the final margin with a two-run eighth inning.
Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) paced the Bucs' offense as he went 2-for-4 at the plate.
With the win, UWA wrapped up the No. 2 seed in next weekend's GSC Tournament. The Bucs will open GSC Tournament play against No. 9 Delta State Friday, with the game time to be announced later. They will face either No. 22 North Alabama or Valdosta State Saturday, with that gime time to be announced later. On the other side of the bracket, West Alabama faces West Georgia, and and third-seeded Alabama-Huntsville faces West Florida.
