Magicians Hold Off Bucs 7-5

Will Wilson went 2-for-4 with a triple, but the Bucs dropped a 7-5 decision to LeMoyne-Owen Tuesday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS-Visiting LeMoyne-Owen built a 7-2 lead and held on for a 7-5 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday afternoon at Buc Field.

The Bucs (6-18) opened the scoring in the third inning when Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) tripled to right-center and scored on a Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) sacrifice fly. Tanner Sandel (Gallatin, Tenn./Gallatin HS) followed with a single and stole second. After moving to third on a wild pitch, he scored on a Ryan Knott (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) sacrifice fly to right to give the Bucs a 2-0 edge.

The Magicians (7-7) cut the lead in half in the fourth, loading the bases on a hit batter, a single, and a walk and scoring on a double play. They took advantage of a passed ball and an error to plate four unearned runs in the fifth inning, taking a 5-2 edge.

In the seventh, LOC added two more runs on three singles and two walks. The Bucs rallied in the bottom of the eighth inning. Back-to-back walks started the inning, and a Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) single loaded the bases. Braden Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) hit a sacrifice fly to right, and an RBI groundout and a passed ball brought two more runs in to bring the Bucs within two.

The Bucs put runners on with back-to-back walks with two out in the bottom of the ninth, but a flyout ended the game.

Wilson went 2-for-4 in the game for the Bucs, and Taylor Seaman (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) threw three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., when they visit West Alabama for a GSC doubleheader. They meet again Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bucs' next home game is set for Saturday, April 6, at noon against Valdosta State.
