Ryan Knott went 3-for-6, but host West Alabama swept a doubleheader from the Bucs 11-2 and 5-0 Saturday afternoon.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama swept a Gulf South Conference doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday afternoon, winning the opener 11-2 before winning 5-0 on a one-hitter in the second game.

In the opener, the Tigers (14-15, 8-3 GSC) scored a run in the bottom of the first on a double, a single, and a run-scoring double play. The Bucs (6-20, 0-11) answered with two in the top of the second. Braden Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) singled to center to start the inning, and Tyler Burnett (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) reached on an error on his sacrifice bunt. Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) followed with an RBI double, and Burnett scored when Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) grounded into a fielder's choice.

Errors would sink the Bucs for the rest of the game. A walk, two doubles, and a two-out error allowed three runs to score in the third for UWA, with only one earned. Another error led to an unearned run in a two-run fourth inning, and two two-out errors led to a four-run fifth inning that let the Tigers pull away to a 10-2 lead. They tacked on one last run in the seventh to set the final margiin.

Ryan Knott (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) went 3-for-4 in the game for the Bucs, while Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) and Cale Alexander (Bartlett, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) collected two hits each.

In the second inning, the Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the first on a double, a walk, and a single to give starter Barry Meeks all the run support he would need. They tacked on another run in the second and two in the fourth to set the final margin.

Meanwhile, Meeks (2-2) kept the Bucs off balance, limiting them to one hit, a sixth-inning single by Alexander, and three walks over six scoreless innings.

The Bucs and Tigers meet again Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the final game of the series. The Bucs' next home game is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, when they host Valdosta State for a GSC doubleheader.
