Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MEMPHIS-Visiting Alabama-Huntsville swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday afternoon, scoring in the fifth and sixth innings to break open a tie game on their way to a 6-4 win in the nightcap after claiming an 11-0 win in the opener.

The Chargers (18-3, 5-0 GSC) built a four-run lead early in the second game. They scored one in the first on a walk and two singles, and they tacked on another in the second on a single and a two-out triple. They used two errors to score twice in the third to extend their lead to 4-0. The Bucs (5-11, 0-5) clawed back into it, scoring two in the bottom of the third. Jarrett Jenkins (Ridgeland, Miss./Ridgeland HS) worked a leadoff walk and stole second, scoring on a flyout and a groundout. With two out, Braden Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) singled and Josh Hopkins (Olive Branch, Miss./Southern Baptist Educational Center) doubled him in.

The Bucs tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a one-out rally. Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) singled and moved to second when Charles Armour (Brighton, Tenn./Brighton HS) was hit by a ptich. Jenkins doubled to left to score both and knot the game at 4. UAH used a pair of singles and a wild pitch to score one in the fifth, and a walk and a double in the sixth pushed another run across to set the final margin at 6-4. The Bucs threatened in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but Hopkins was hit by a Will Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) grounder, negating a run, and a strikeout ended the game.

Jenkins went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Hopkins, Wilson, and Goodwin collected two hits each as well.

In the opener, UAH used two big innings to take control, starting in the third inning when Vincent Kortbawi blasted a three-run homer with two out. The Chargers blew it wide open an inning later, scoring eight runs on five hits, an error, five walks, and a hit batter, all with two out. The Bucs stranded runners in scoring position in the final five innings of the game, but they were unable to push a run across.

Jenkins and Hopkins each went 2-for-3 in the game.

The Bucs and Chargers meet again Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
