Battlers Blank Bucs 3-0

Jake Garbuzinski allowed three runs over six and two-thirds innings in the Bucs' 3-0 loss to Alderson-Broaddus Saturday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS-Two pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout as visiting Alderson-Broaddus defeated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.

The Battlers (1-0) struck first with an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning on a single, an error and a sacrifice fly. They tacked on two more in the seventh on a walk and three singles to set the final margin at 3-0.

ABU pitcher Randy Dobnak held the Bucs (0-4) scoreless on two hits and three walks over eight innings, striking out seven for his first win. Zach Glaze struck out the side in the ninth to earn the save.

Jake Garbuzinski (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) took the loss for the Bucs as he allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits and four walks over six and two-thirds innings. Justin Neal (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS), Josh Hopkins (Olive Branch, Miss./Southern Baptist Educational Center) and Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) each singled for the Bucs.

CBU and ABU will meet again Sunday at noon as they play a doubleheader with two seven-inning games.
