In the opener, the Argos (13-2, 8-0 GSC) gave starting pitcher Dayan Rodriguez all the run support he would need before the game's first out. A pair of leadoff singles set the stage for a two-run Cliff Covington triple, and Covington scored on a wild pitch to give UWF a 3-0 lead.

They added two more in the third on a walk, two singles, a sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch.
