Lions Down Bucs 7-1

Mickey Smith went 2-for-4 in the Bucs' 7-1 loss to North Alabama Saturday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS-Visiting North Alabama completed a three-game sweep of the Christian Brothers University Bucs as they won the series finale 7-1 Saturday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.

The Lions (12-15, 5-10 GSC) took the lead in the second inning with a run on a double and a single. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a two-out rally, scoring two runs on an error, a double and a single. Two singles and a two-out, two-run double in the fifth extended their lead to 5-0.

The Bucs (5-17, 0-12) scored a run in the bottom of the fifth. Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) laid down a bunt single and moved to third on an error as the throw sailed up the first base line. A Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) groundout scored him.

The Lions scored two more in the top of the eighth on two singles and a double to set the final margin.

Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) went 2-for-4 in the game for CBU.

The Bucs return to action Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they host Bethel in a non-conference game.
