In game one, the Bucs (6-19, 1-13 GSC) used a four-run eighth inning to rally for the victory in a game they had not led. Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) worked a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at four. Tyler Burnett (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) followed with an RBI single to give the Bucs their first lead of the day, and bases-loaded walks to Taylor Seaman (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) and Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) pushed across two more to give CBU the final margin of 7-4.

Jake Garbuzinski (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) finished the victory for the Bucs, holding VSU scoreless in the last two innings, pitching around a single in each inning. He went the distance to earn the win, allowing four runs, two earned, on 12 hits and one walk against four strikeouts. Garbuzinski (1-5) threw his second complete game of the year.

VSU (16-8, 9-6) took an early lead, scoring a first-inning run on a walk, a steal and a single, and they added a tally in the third on a hit batter, two singles and a sacrifice fly.

The Bucs drew even in the top of the fourth. Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) singled to left and scored on a Justin Neal (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) triple to right, with Neal scoring on a Josh Ambuehl (Las Vegas, Nev./Arlington HS) single to left.

But the Blazers scored two unearned runs in the fourth to restore their two-run edge as they scored twice on two singles, an error, a sacrifice bunt and a passed ball.

The Bucs scored an unearned run of their own in the top of the sixth with back-to-back two-out walks after Cooley singled and Charles Kelly (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) reached on an error. Ambuehl walked to load the bases, and Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) walked to score Cooley, setting up the eighth-inning rally.

In game two, it was the Bucs who took an early lead but couldn't hold on.

Neal led off the second with an infield single and moved to second on a Hopkins sacrifice bunt. After he stole third, he scored on an Ambuehl groundout.

But the Blazers scored four in the bottom of the second, on two hits, an error and a walk to take the lead for good. Matthew Fears capped the rally with a two-run homer.

The Bucs scored another run in the third with a two-out rally. Stephen Joe (Madison, Miss./Ridgeland HS) singled and scored on a Cooley double to the gap to cut the deficit to 4-2.

VSU used a single, two walks and a groundout to plate a run in the third, and they put it away with a three-run fourth, converting a single, two walks, a sacrifice fly, a groundout and a wild pitch into three runs.

Cooley went 3-for-3 and Neal was 2-for-3 in the game for CBU. Michael Spain (Huron, Tenn./Lexington HS) threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
