Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored multiple runs in four of their eight innings at the plate as they rallied for a 13-10 win over visiting Victory Tuesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field to complete the season sweep.

The Eagles (21-13) jumped to an early lead, cashing in on three walks, two hits and an error to plate four runs in the top of the first inning.

The Bucs (8-24) answered with a pair in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Burnett (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) and Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) singled, with a throwing error advancing them to second and third with none out. Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Burnett, and Charles Kelly (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) singled Smith home to cut the margin to 4-2.

The Eagles tacked on four more in the top of the third to extend their lead to 8-2, scoring four runs on four hits and two walks.

The Bucs fought back into the game in the bottom of the third inning. A Cooley single sandwiched by hit by pitches for Smith and Kelly loaded the bases with one out. Stephen Joe (Madison, Miss./Ridgeland HS) was also hit by a pitch to bring in a run, and Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) grounded into a force play to score Cooley, with Kelly scoring on a throwing error. Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) followed with an RBI double down the right field line to trim the deficit to 8-6.

Each team scored once in the fifth, with Victory converting a walk, a single and a wild pitch into a run. Joe singled and scored on a two-out Taylor Seaman (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) single to right-center to put the score at 9-7.

In the top of the sixth, Victory used a single and three walks to plate a run and take a 10-7 lead, but the Bucs tied the game in the bottom of the frame. Burnett singled, and walks to Cooley and Kelly loaded the bases with one out. Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) worked a bases-loaded walk to score Burnett, and Casey Goodwin hit a two-out, two-run single up the middle to score Cooley and Kelly and tie the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Bucs took advantage of Eagle mistakes to win the game. Pinch-hitter Joe Mattson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) reached on a fielding error, and pinch-runner Ryan Knott (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) moved to second on Burnett's sacrifice bunt. Burnett reached safely with a throwing error, and Smith sacrificed Knott and Burnett to second and third with one out. After an intentional walk to Cooley, Kelly hit a two-run single through the left side to put the Bucs on top for good. Kilgore singled to load the bases again, and Caleb Goodwin hit a sacrifie fly to center to score Cooley and set the final margin.

Casey Goodwin and Tyler Burnett each went 3-for-5, while Smith, Cooley, Kelly and Joe collected two hits each. Burnett and Cooley scored three runs each, and Smith and Kelly scored two each. Casey Goodwin and Kelly drove in three runs each, and Caleb Goodwin added two RBI.

Michael Lartigue (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) earned the win with four innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits and six walks against four strikeouts as he evened his record at 1-1.
