MARTIN, Tenn.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs jumped to a quick 5-0 lead at Division I Tennessee-Martin Tuesday night, but after a 42-minute lightning delay in the second inning and a 54-minute delay in the third inning, the game was called off.
Before the rain, the Bucs had already hit three doubles.
Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) had been 2-for-2 with a two-run double,
Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was 1-for-2 with a two-run double, and
Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS) was 1-for-1 with an RBI double.
Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS),
Lucas Castleberry (Bryant, Ark./Bryant HS),
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) and
Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) also collected hits before the game was rained out.
Gil Erwin (Covington, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) started the game and threw two and two-thirds innings, with one strikeout against a hit and a hit batter.
The Bucs wrap up their 2016 season with a three-game GSC series at Shorter this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader is set for an 11 a.m. start, with Sunday's single game scheduled to begin at noon.
