ATLANTA - The Christian Brothers University men's and women's track and field teams opened up their 2020 campaign at the Emory Crossplex Invite, which took place at Emory University. The teams ended with seven top-10 finishes, which included four first place finishes.
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Chelsea Walker claimed two first place finished on the day as she crossed the finish line in first place in the women's 60 meter hurdles race (8.80) and the 200 meter dash (25.09).
- Essence Tornabene was able to finish the weight throw competition in first as she was able to chunk the weight a distance of 16.62 meters. This is a new personal best for Tornabene.
- Raeven Veal rounded out the top-five finishes for the women as she recorded a 2:18.15 time in the 800 meter run.
- Team finish: 7th place (36 points)
MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Leo Stefanski paced himself to a first place finish in the 800 meter competition with a time of 1:55.45.
- Jaylen Jones sprinted his way to an eighth place result in the 200 meter dash. He crossed the finish line in 22.79, which was 0.09 behind the seventh place finisher.
- Peter Torres ended his one mile run with a time of 4:27.59, which resulted in an eight place finish.
- Team finish: 11th place (14 points)

The CBU men's and women's teams will be traveling to Fayetteville, Ark. on Fri., Feb. 14th, to compete in the University of Arkansas Qualifier.
