Chafin, Dutra Earn Gulf South Conference Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After helping the Christian Brothers University women's soccer team to a pair of road wins, Riley Chafin and Amanda Dutra were named Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week, and Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.

Dutra earned her first career honor after scoring the game-winning goal in the 2-1 overtime win over West Georgia and following it up with the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Valdosta State. Dutra is tied for third on the team with three goals.

Chafin claimed her second career GSC Defender of the Week award after allowing just one goal in 184 minutes of action. The Little Rock, Ark., native had seven saves in the two matches, including five against Valdosta State. Chafin has not allowed more than one goal in the last 12 matches.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Oct. 22, when they return to Signaigo Field to host Mississippi College. The contest is set to begin at 5 PM.
