BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2021 Spring All-Academic Teams and Honor Roll, and Christian Brothers University had 12 student-athletes named Academic All-Conference and 124 earn Academic Honor Roll honors.

Student-athletes who competed in fall sports that were moved to the spring were eligible for awards. 

Chelsea Walker, Johanna Wistokat, Raeven Veal and Leo Stefanski represent the CBU track and field teams.

Wayne Davis, Maxi Galizzi and Felipe Rodrigues were named to the Men's Soccer All-Academic Team.
 
Riley Chafin, Anna Della Rosa, Bailey Tadlock and Taylor White were voted to the Women's Soccer All-Academic Team.
 
Esther Guemes of the women's tennis team rounds out the CBU All-Academic Team selections.
 
Walker, Wistokat, Veal and Stefanski have all earned multiple All-Academic Team honors. All four student-athletes were also named to the GSC Winter All-Academic Team for indoor track and field.
 
Along with a pair of indoor track and field honors Walker and Veal have now twice been named to the outdoor track and field All-Academic Teams.
 
Walker, who has a 3.74 cumulative GPA in business administration, finished an outdoor season that saw her become the first female in history to win four gold medals at the Gulf South Conference Championships. Walker also earned a pair of All-American honors, as she finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships.
 
Wistokat, who was also named to the 2019 GSC Cross Country All-Academic team, finished third in the 5000 meters at the 2021 GSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Veal, who has now earned four Academic All-Conference honors (2019 outdoor track, 2020 indoor track, 2021 indoor track and 2021 outdoor track), has a 4.0 cumulative GPA in business administration. She also earned the CBU Female Senior Student-Athlete award after she had the highest GPA of a senior student-athlete.

Leo Stefanski has a 4.0 cumulative GPA in business admin, and has earned his third career All-Academic honor after he finished third in the 800 at the GSC Championships, while also helping the Bucs to a third place finish in the 4x400 relay.
 
Chafin, Della Rosa and Tadlock have now earned a pair of All-Academic Team honors during their decorated careers.
 
Chafin, who has a 3.9 cumulative GPA in psychology, helped the Lady Bucs advance to the second round of the GSC Championship Series Tournament. The Little Rock, Ark., native finished the seven-game season with a stellar .950 goals against average, while allowing more than one goal just once in seven matches.
 
Della Rosa, who was also a 2018 All-Academic selection, has a 3.95 GPA in psychology and finished the GSC Spring Championship Series with a goal and an assist. Her assist, against Union, helped the Lady Bucs win the match in double overtime.
 
In the classroom, Tadlock has a 3.62 GPA in Biology. On the field, she finished the GSC Spring Championship Series with a pair of game-winning goals.
 
This marks the first career All-Academic honor for White, who has a 3.94 GPA while pursuing a Masters of Accountancy. White, who was a leader for the Lady Bucs defense, played every minute of all seven matches. The Collierville, Tenn., native scored a pair of goals this season, including the game-winner, in double overtime, against Union.
 
Wayne Davis, an account major with a 3.7 GPA, helped the Bucs earn an appearance in the GSC Championship Series final, and was named to the All-Tournament team. The Collierville, Tenn., native allowed more than one goal in just one of seven matches.
 
Maxi Galizzi adds to an impressive list of honors that includes saw him named to the 2019 GSC All-Academic Team, 2019 First Team All-GSC and the 2020-21 GSC Top Ten. Galizzi has a 3.6 GPA, and finished the season with a goal and an assist.
 
Felipe Rodrigues earned his first career GSC All-Academic Team honor after an outstanding year that saw him help anchor the Bucs midfield. Rodrigues also earned the CBU Male Senior Student-Athlete award after he had the highest GPA of a senior student-athlete. The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil native is pursuing a Master's in Business Administration and has a 4.0 GPA.
 
Esther Guemes is the first CBU women's tennis player to be named to the GSC All-Academic Team since Morgan Mills earned GSC West Division All-Academic Team honors in 2011. Guemes, who has a 3.7 cumulative GPA in Business Administration, was named Second Team All-GSC after she turned in a league best 13 wins from the No. 2 singles position. Guemes went 14-1 in doubles play.

GSC All-Academic honorees must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have made significant contributions to their respective teams during the 2021 campaign.
