BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2022-23 Winter All-Academic Teams and Honor Roll, and Christian Brothers University had four student-athletes named Academic All-Conference and 35 named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Student-athletes who competed in winter sports were eligible for awards. 

Nick Deifel represented the CBU men's basketball team, while Johanna Wistokat, Marc Crespi and Leo Stefanski  represented the CBU indoor track and field teams. 

Five student-athletes were named to the GSC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, while 13 were named to each indoor track and field team.

Deifel earned his first career honor after he finished second on the team with 11.5 points per game. The Cincinnati native, who has a 4.0 GPA in the MBA program, scored his 1,000th career point at Mississippi College (1.12.23). Deifel was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. 
 
Wistokat earned an astounding eighth GSC All-Academic Team selection after a successful indoor campaign that saw her finish fourth in the 5,000 meters at the GSC Championships. The Wennigsen, Germany native has now earned three GSC Winter All-Academic selections, as well as three Fall and two Spring nods. Wistokat has a 4.0 GPA, while pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science. 
  
Crespi, who has a 3.93 cumulative GPA in the Civil Engineering program, finished fifth in the 400 meters and helped CBU win the bronze medal in the 4x400 relay at the GSC Championships. This marks the first career All-Academic team honor for Crespi. 
 
Stefanski earned his fourth career after earning a spot on the podium with a third place in the 800 meters at the GSC Championships. Stefanski, who is also a three-time GSC Champion Scholar Athlete, helped the Bucs to third place finishes in the 4x400 and distance medley relays. Stefanski also has a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Master of Data Science Program. 
 
GSC All-Academic honorees must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have made significant contributions to their respective teams during the 2022-23 campaign.
