BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Christian Brothers University volleyball's Ella Schumacher was named the Gulf South Conference's Freshman of the Week for her outstanding performances in three matches played last week.  This was the 13th time since 2014 CBU has won the GSC Volleyball Freshman of the Week award. 

Schumacher logged 47 kills, 52.5 points and had a .283 hitting percentage to make her case for GSC weekly honors. As a result, she became the first Christian Brothers weekly award honoree since Tia Rizvi was recognized for the same award on Oct. 12, 2021. Schumacher began the week with back-to-back 13-kill performances against Trevecca Nazarene and Union. The rookie then punctuated the week with 21 kills against AUM while posting a season-high .462 hitting percentage. She also had 18 digs, four aces and three blocks across 13 sets last week.
