Box Score MEMPHIS, TN. – Behind a dominant second-half surge, the Christian Brothers University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten conference streak with a 2–0 win over West Alabama Friday night at Signaigo Field.
After a scoreless first half filled with near misses and strong defensive play, the Buccaneers broke through in the 58th minute when freshman Thomas Lando calmly finished from inside the box to give CBU the lead. The goal marked Lando's first of the season and energized the home crowd.
Just over two minutes later, Juan Minguez Malonda continued his red-hot form, netting his team-leading fifth goal of the year in the 61st minute to make it 2–0. CBU controlled possession for the rest of the match, never allowing West Alabama to recover.
The Buccaneers outshot the Tigers 17–5, including seven shots on target, and earned 13 corner kicks while limiting UWA to only one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Sebastian Torka secured a shutout, recording one save behind a defensive line anchored by Matthias Ran De Berg and AJ Agbede.
Elliot Whalley and Alexander Blanche led the attack with relentless pressure, combining for eight total shots and several dangerous chances in the final third.
With the win, CBU improves to 6–2–1 overall and 3–0–1 in Gulf South Conference play, while West Alabama drops to 3–4–2.
The Buccaneers will look to carry their momentum into Sunday's home match as they continue their climb up the GSC standings.
