Box Score 1 Memphis, TN- The Christian Brothers University baseball team dropped both games in doubleheader against Quincy, with Game 1 serving as a competitive contest that featured several strong individual performances for the Buccaneers.
In the opener, CBU collected 10 hits and stayed engaged throughout the game despite an early Quincy surge. Jackson Licata had a strong day at the plate, collecting three hits and a run scored, while Isaac Lemanski went 3-for-4 with a run and continued to show consistency at the plate. Zowen Collins delivered a double that drove in two runs, and Patrick Mangels added an RBI in the second inning.
On the mound, Thomas Leiden worked the first 3 innings, and John Decoste provided 5 innings of relief while striking out seven and allowing just two earned runs, giving the Bucs valuable innings out of the bullpen.
Game 2 was a tough loss, but head coach Zach Ullrich used the matchup to test lineup adjustments and give several players an opportunity to prove themselves and gain experience. The staff took a developmental approach as the team continues to build depth early in the season.
It was a rough weekend overall, but the Buccaneers will look to bounce back in their conference home opener against UAH on February 13 and 14. CBU aims to reset and build momentum in front of its home crowd.
