Two Early Goals Sink Lady Bucs

Carmen Manes took three shots in the Lady Bucs' 2-1 loss to Northeastern State Wednesday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—Visiting Northeastern State scored twice in the first 12 minutes and held on for a 2-1 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Wednesday night at Signaigo Field.

The Riverhawks (6-2-1) got on the board just over four minutes into the game, when Emily Voges scored off an Ashley Dolezel cross.  They doubled their edge in the 12th minute when Rachel Sordahl scored an unassisted game.  The Lady Bucs' only score was an own goal in the 82nd minute, when the NSU defense tried to clear a ball in the box but inadvertently headed it in.

The Lady Bucs were out-shot 15-10 for the game, including a 12-6 edge in shots on goal.  Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made nine saves for the Lady Bucs.

The loss was the Lady Bucs' first at Signaigo Field since it was renovated in 2010, snapping a nine-game unbeaten streak.

The Lady Bucs play their GSC home opener Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host North Alabama.
