Bucs Drop GSC Finale 1-0 in Overtime

Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss.-Host Delta State scored in the fourth minute of overtime to claim a 1-0 victory over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday afternoon in the final Gulf South Conference game of the season for both squads.

The Bucs (7-9-1, 5-8-1 GSC) held a 15-11 edge in shots for regulation, but they were unable to solve DSU (2-13-1, 2-10-1) goalkeeper Milos Boskovic, who made a pair of saves. Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) answered the call, holding the Statesmen scoreless with five saves until the 94th minute, when Jaxon Lambert capitalized on a cross from Russell Alvarez Jr. for the game's only goal.

For the game, CBU out-shot the Statesmen 16-13, but DSU held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.

The game was the Bucs' fourth overtime contest of the season.

The Bucs wrap up the 2013 regular season Saturday night at 5 p.m. as they host Palm Beach Atlantic. They will take on No. 21 West Florida Friday, Nov. 7, in the GSC semifinals at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla.
