BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Christian Brothers University women's soccer players
Cheyenne Smith and
Julia Valentin have been named All-Gulf South Conference. Smith earned first team honors, while Valentin was named to the second team.
The awards, which are voted on by the league's coaches, were released on Friday. This marks the fourth straight season that the Lady Bucs have had at least one player earn first team all-conference honors.

Smith ranks second in the GSC, and fourth in NCAA Division II, with 17 goals. Her 1.21 goals per game lead the league and rank third in NCAA Division II. The Memphis native also leads the league in shots per game (3.93) and shots on goal per game (2.71).

Smith scored in all but three matches this season, and is also tied for second in the league with 13 tallies in conference contests. The 17 goals, for Smith, are tied for eighth-most in CBU single-season history.
Valentin earned Second Team All-GSC honors after a stellar debut campaign that saw her rank second on the team with six goals. The Karlstad, Sweden native scored three league goals, including the game-winner against Valdosta State.
The Lady Bucs open play in the GSC Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 30 when they visit No. 2 seed Mississippi College. The winner of the match advances to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of No. 6 seed Delta State and No. 3 West Alabama. Kickoff for Sunday's contest is set for 3 PM.
