Rueben Jones (Whangarei, New Zealand) was named the Gulf South Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performances against West Florida and Spring Hill. He becomes the fourth men's soccer player, and seventh Buccaneer, to earn weekly honors from the GSC this season.
Jones was part of a backline that only conceded one goal through two matches as Christian Brothers extended its unbeaten streak to six matches. In a 1-1 draw against West Florida, the senior helped to hold the Argos scoreless for 84 minutes after a goal in the sixth-minute. This defensive stand would be followed up with the preservation of a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Spring Hill where Jones and the Buccaneers' backline only allowed two shots on goal. He also scored the game-winning goal in the 71
st-minute.
