Christian Brothers University Athletics

Bob Stephenson was the face of the athletics department for nearly 30 years.  Stephenson came to CBC in 1969 as athletics director and basketball coach.  In nine seasons on the bench, he led CBC to a 130-111 record, including a 23-11 season in 1976-77, the fourth-most wins in a season in school history.  Though he stopped coaching in 1978, Stephenson remained as athletics director until 1996, during which time he helped the school start 11 of its 13 varsity sports, including the entire women’s sports program.  Stephenson has also received the Billy J. Murphy Award from the University of Memphis M Club Hall of Fame.
