Krelstein attended CBU from 1961-64, when he was a two-time winner of at the National Collegiate Pistol Championships. Krelstein, who earned the Distinguished Pistol Shot  badge in 1964, was also a First Team All-American in the same year. While a student, in 1963, Krelstein also became a member of the prestigious "2600 Club," and set three national records.
