Charlie Leonard both played and coached basketball at CBU. He played for the Bucs from 1971 to 1975, scoring 823 points with 676 rebounds in 88 career games. He ranks 12th in career rebounds. He led the teams to three winning records in four years and a 56-48 overall record, including a 19-7 record as a sophomore. He was a two-time All-Conference selection and a two-year team captain. Charlie also coached the CBU basketball team from 1990 to 1997, finishing with 127 wins, including six straight winning records and three straight 20-win seasons. His 1993-94 team went 24-8, the fourth-most wins in a season in school history, and his 1994-95 team led all of college basketball in free throw percentage. Since leaving CBU, Charlie has been a mainstay of college basketball coaching throughout the south, coaching at Memphis, North Texas and, currently, LSU. In all, he has coached basketball for 40 years.
